Our Mission

Emmanuel and Sheila Senesie founded the Sierra Leone Christian Mission in 2008 to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ to the people of Baiima and the surrounding villages. With God’s love, grace, guidance, and your assistance, we aim to build a sturdy foundation that will have a lasting and positive impact on the Baiima, Sierra Leone community.

About Baiima

Location: Baiima is in Mandu Chiefdom, Kailahun District, Sierra Leone, West Africa. It is about 240 miles from Freetown, the capital city.

Education: Around 80% of Baiima’s 6,000 residents have never attended school. The town’s infrastructure was destroyed during the ten-year civil war. There are three small elementary schools and one middle school, with class sizes often ranging from 60 to 70 students.

Language & Religion: The main language spoken is Mende, which is used by 31% of Sierra Leone’s population. Most residents, approximately 75–80%, are Muslim.

Healthcare & Living Conditions: Baiima has one clinic, mainly for maternity care. There are no paved roads, no indoor plumbing, no electricity, and no shops for basic goods.

Economy & Jobs: Most people work in farming, but their crops barely provide enough food for their own families. Many also work on nearby palm oil plantations. Rice, the staple food, must be imported. The average annual income is around $250, and about 60% of residents are under 30 years old.

Faith & Community: Despite these challenges, Baiima residents are very open to the Gospel. The Sierra Leone Christian Mission established the Baiima Community Bible Church in October 2008 to serve the local community.
