Community Development
The Sierra Leone Christian Mission is committed to community-driven development. Our goal is to enable the people of Baiima to help themselves and their communities by providing them with the support and resources needed to be proactive contributors within their society.
Sewing and Craft Arts
He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by the Mission, through its adult education, teaches women and teens how to sew, crochet, and make fabric beads and beaded jewelry. By providing these sewing and craft arts to the women, Sierra Leone Christian Mission helps to stimulate the economy of this rural community and allows for a means of self-sufficiency.
Healthy Living
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So, glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Recognizing that one’s circumstances should not compromise one’s sense of self-worth, the people of Baiima are encouraged to practice a healthy way of living. We teach and support a good, clean and healthy behavior. Baiima has one small Health Center that is used mainly for maternity care. It lacks basic medical supplies that are essential in a health center. We provide baby clothing and some essential baby items such as: children’s aspirin, thermometers, cough medicine, Vaseline, baby oil, and other items to encourage cleanliness and minimize infections. In addition, we provide mothers with the education and resources needed to raise healthy infants. There is a great need in this area and it continues to increase.
Support Community Development
The Sierra Leone Christian Mission is dedicated to supporting community-driven development efforts. Our mission is to foster the local economy through a concerted effort that will help drive individuals to become more self-sufficient. In order for us to effectively and successfully improve the living conditions of these individuals, we need the resources that will allow us to do it. Your support is needed to help fund the programs that focus on community development.
Your financial support will:
-help people help themselves and in turn help their community
-increase the overall well-being of the community
-increase overall productivity
-help build-up a stronger and more stable community
How Can I Help?
The Sierra Leone Christian Mission operates primarily on donations from individuals, partner companies, organizations, and support groups. The church, Baiima Community Bible Church and the school, Baiima Christian Academy, the Adult Education and the Mission House have many needs. Many individuals have partnered with Sierra Leone Christian Mission on a regular or one-time donation. Your donations can significantly impact our progress within Baiima and the surrounding areas. Through your donations, we can continue to expand our resources and provide individuals with much needed support. Please contact us if you are interested in partnering with or volunteering for Sierra Leone Christian Mission.
