The Church Before
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20
The Baiima Community Bible Church was established in 2008 by the Sierra Leone Christian Mission. For four years, services were conducted in a mud hut, while the sanctuary was being built. The church was dedicated in December 2011, the sanctuary seats 200 people.
The Church has evangelized, counseled and baptized over 150 new converts ranging from the age of 5 to 78 years. Over 150 people attend Sunday morning worship services. The town is almost predominantly Muslim, about half of the attendees on Sundays are young adults and children. Bible study is held every Friday from 5 – 7 pm. The “Proclaimer” an audio recording of the complete Bible in the Mende language is used.

The Church and its ministries are a significant part of the community and it attracts the youth and young adults. The church has a dedicated full-time Pastor, Daniel Ellie, who has been with the ministry since it started in 2008. A choir master, Samuel Lamin, a church secretary, Aruna Brima and a security guard, Abdulai Mustapha. The pastor and his family live on campus.
Every year, the church conducts a revival service which is held in the town’s community hall. Attendance at these revivals attract people from all the nearby villages. Many people both young and old respond to the invitation to surrender their life to Christ. Follow-up is done by the pastor and church staff. In 2017, a revival was conducted in Taway, a village about three miles from Baiima. Pastors from other churches and some of their members attended. The “Proclaimer” An audio recording of the whole Bible was used. It attracted people to come to the revival when they heard God speaking in their language.

Sierra Leone Christian Mission offers annual mission trips to Baiima. Interested participants should contact SLCM directly for more information. We welcome all to be part of our missionary work and are especially looking for school and bible teachers, nurses, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, gardeners and anyone who has any skills that can be taught to the men, women or children of Baiima, Sierra Leone. Please contact SLCM if you are interested in participating in an upcoming mission trip.
The Mission House
The Mission House (pictured above) provides housing for short-term missionaries. It has two standard size bedrooms and one master room. The master bedroom has six bunk beds.
Evangelism in Baiima
“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15
Sierra Leone Christian Mission has developed an evangelism program to share the good news of Jesus Christ. We have a group of volunteers dedicated to spreading the Word. They are committed to supporting evangelism within the town of Baiima and neighboring villages.
Our evangelists provide the hope, faith, and inspiration that the people of Baiima need in light of their circumstances.
